Thankful Thursday – Vulnerability
“Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.” ~ Brene Brown
Each day since starting Delivering Hope, I am humbled and overwhelmed by how graciously and openly Intended Mothers have shared their stories of infertility, loss, pain and heartache. Throughout my own infertility battle, I was often floating in a cloud of shame, powerlessness and fear. I had never known such a true place of alienation. It was lonely and terrifying. Getting to know other Intended Mothers now, we are both in awe of how many “aha” moments and similarities fill our stories. It’s as if we both finally feel like someone else gets it. The process of healing and working through the trauma of infertility is something I know will be a lifelong process for me. A process of healing that continues when I allow myself to share openly, to listen intently and when I open my heart to truly seeing the other woman sharing her story and the power of her own light.
