Application Phase

Once you decide you want to begin the surrogacy journey and have met all the requirements listed on the “Become a Surrogate” tab, you will submit the preliminary application. You will be contacted within 24 hours to discuss what will be involved and answer all of your questions. If you are ready to proceed we will begin working together on paperwork and all of the pre-screening, including background checks on you and your spouse as well as a medical record review. We will notify you soon afterwards if you are accepted to be represented by Delivering Hope.

Matching Phase

A profile will be created using information from your application. Once an aspiring parent selects your profile, we will schedule an interview via a 4-way phone call including yourself, the aspiring parents, Mary and Cat. You will all be asked a series of questions in order to get to know each other. Once the interview is over, if both parties agree to move forward, a match is made. Both parties will sign a matching sheet outlining expectations and requirements. The aspiring parents will then pay the agency fee and contact information is exchanged. At this point you will begin receiving the monthly allowance and move into the next phase.

Medical Screening & Psych Evaluation

During this phase there is much to attend to and a lot going on behind the scenes. The fertility clinic will begin reviewing your medical records. You will have bloodwork done and an OB appointment. You will also have a psychological evaluation done over the phone.

Contract Phase

The contract will be presented to both you and the aspiring parents. Our agency will provide representation for you, paid for by the aspiring parents. The contract is reviewed to make sure you are clear on your responsibilities and expectations. We will be here to assist you with any questions or concerns that arise. Once contracts are signed you can begin medications in preparation for the transfer.

Embryo Transfer

The fertility clinic will send you a calendar outlining your medication and appointment schedule in preparation for the transfer. Medications will be ordered and bloodwork done. In most cases you will have at least 1 ultrasound to confirm your lining is optimal before the transfer. The transfer will be scheduled and the aspiring parents will pay for all the arrangements. The transfer will take place at the fertility clinic chosen by the aspiring parents. Travel will most likely be necessary and resting 1-2 days after transfer will likely be required.

About 10 days post-transfer, pregnancy will be confirmed via a blood test. You will have several appointments with your clinic or lab to monitor hormone levels. An ultrasound will be scheduled for 6-8 weeks to confirm a heartbeat. Around your 8th week of pregnancy you will be transferred to an obstetrician in your area.

Delivering Hope will continue to support you and the aspiring parents throughout the entire pregnancy. We will check up on you periodically and want you to contact us any time for anything you need. We believe in a high level of communication to make this the best possible journey for everyone.

Birth & Beyond

Several weeks before delivery we will make sure all appropriate forms have been submitted to the hospital and that the hospital is aware of the circumstances and will make all necessary accommodations. By this time everyone’s expectations for the delivery will have been discussed in detail so there will be no surprises in the delivery room or afterwards.

Everyone experiences different emotions after the birth and the baby has gone home. You usually won’t know how you’ll feel until it happens. We will continue to support you in every way possible as you recover. With the help of your friends and support system, Delivering Hope will assist in setting up meals for the week postpartum. You will also receive a personalized gift of your choice to help you reflect on what you’ve just accomplished.
